Skyros is the largest and southernmost island of the Northern Sporades, with an area of ​​209.5 sq. km.
It is characterized by a unique geographical contrast: the northern part is lush with pine forests, while the southern part is wild and mountainous, reminiscent of the Cyclades.

Access

By boat: The main connection is from the port of Kymi in Evia with the ship "Achilleas".
In the summer months there are connections with Alonissos, Skopelos and Volos.

By air: The island has an airport with flights from Athens and Thessaloniki.

Main Attractions & Activities

Skyros Town: Built amphitheatrically on a rock, with white houses and the Byzantine castle-monastery of Agios Georgios at the top.

Skyrian Horses: At the Mouries farm you can get to know this rare breed of horse.
Children (up to 40 kg) can go for a walk.

Museums: The Faltaits Museum (Historical-Folklore) in Chora is one of the most important of its kind in Greece.

Beaches

The island has 74 beaches for all weathers:
Magazia & Molos: The most popular and long sandy beach, just below Chora, with full organization and beach bars.
Agios Fokas: A beautiful beach surrounded by pine trees, ideal for families, with a traditional tavern.
Other options: Pefkos, Acherounes and Kalamitsa.

Gastronomy & Local Products

Skyros is famous for its lobster pasta and its livestock farming tradition.

Try: Skyrian olive pie with sour cream, fava beans, baked goat and local cheeses.
